Medical immobilizer production especially immobilizing joints and bones, limiting movement during the healing process used for (e.g. knee immobilizer, neck collar, hand-wrist immobilizer).
Medical Immobilizer Manufacturing Process
- Design and R&D
- It is measured according to the patient's anatomy (knee, neck, arm, etc.).
- Mold and cutting design is done with CAD/CAM software.
- The balance between comfort and immobilization is observed.
- Material Selection
- Main body materials:
- neoprene, sponge textured fabrics
- Support materials:
- Aluminum plates or strips (formable and lightweight)
- Plastic hard plates (polypropylene, ABS)
- Connecting elements:
- Velcro, elastic bands, buckles
- Cut
- Fabrics and sponges die cut prepared according to the measurements using the method.
- Support plates are produced by press or laser cutting.
- Assembly and Sewing
- The material that will come into contact with the skin on the inner surface is covered with special fabrics for comfort.
- Aluminum/plastic supports are placed on the body.
- Tapes, buckles and velcro are fixed with sewing machines.
- Quality Control
- Limitation of movement tests are performed (e.g. 0° immobilization of the knee).
- Material durability (tensile, adhesion tests) is checked.
- Skin compatibility and breathability are evaluated.
- Packaging
- User manual is added.
- Labeling is done in accordance with medical device regulations (CE, ISO 13485, MDR uyumu).
Sample Production Areas
- Neck immobilizer (cervical collar) → Plastazote + Velcro + polyethylene support
- Knee immobilizer → Sponge + fabric + aluminum strip supports
- Hand-wrist immobilizer → Neoprene + aluminum plate
